Alfa 159 on diet

Alfa yields to its buyers reasons, they put the 159 and Brera models on a diet, to save 100 kgs.

The weight loss is due to a use of a special material, called STR18 and was developed by the Tyssen Krupp. It’s as resistant as the metal used before, but it’s lighter. Alfa says it hasn't got any affects on the cars stiffness and on the EuroNCAP 5 star rating.
Using this material the Brera and 159 models are lighter with 90 kgs and the Sportwagon models saved cool a hundred kgs. Alfa start to use the STR18 from the MY2008 series just after the Frankfurt Motor Show.
