One of the seven nominated vehicles is going to be the winner of the European Car of the Year 2011 competition. Successor of Giulietta, 147, was awarded in 2001, and after a ten-year period there is the possibility of a new prize for Alfa Romeo to be won.

Other nominees are the following: Citroen DS3, Dacia Duster, Ford C-Max, Nissan Leaf, Opel Meriva, Volvo S60. Experts speculate that Citroen DS3 and the electric Nissan Leaf could be the serious rivals of Giulietta.

The Jury, included two Hungarian journalists Miklós Gajdán and György Surányi, is going to announce the winner on 29 November. Last time Alfa Romeo made MiTo take part in 2008, resulting the fifth place.
