However BMW closed the Q3 with a positive result, the good performance caused by the Mini sales. The parent company's sales are about 400.000 pieces this year, but are continuously decreasing. According to BMW’s counts, the factory will make loss within a few years, so they started to search for a partner.
According to the Autocar magazine, BMW wants to put their technology to another chassis to make the manufacturing profitable. BMW spent millions of dollars for search and development, which isn’t profitable beside decreasing sales. That’s why they should buy Alfa Romeo, and Fiat Auto doesn't hold aloof to sell it.
Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne made it clear a few weeks ago, that one of their most important goal is to revitalize the Lancia brand and they would victimize Alfa Romeo to achieve it. Marchionne said, Alfa just seduce the buyers from Lancia.
This acquisition would mean lots of things for Alfa Romeo. On the one hand Alfa would get such a technique where about they dare to dream, but at the other hand the almost 100 year old factory would lost its identity. BMW wouldn’t be so stupid to offer a car which has the same technique inside, but looks much better, so probably they would offer Alfas with worse quality, equipment and so on.
